LASER MARKING MACHINES

DISCOVER THE DIFFERENT LASER ENGRAVING MACHINES IN SINGAPORE

When it comes to industrial marking, there are different approaches one can implement to dominate the conversation. There is, however, one form of marking that has emerged as the go-to approach: laser engraving.

Laser engraving is a popular method for part and material marking since its emergence in 1964. A few years and a couple of laser technology advancements later, industrial laser engraving has become arguably the most sought-after method for part, component and material marking today.

Different Lasers for Different Uses

Before you buy a laser marking machine, you will need to figure out which laser best suits your needs. Here are the typical laser engraving machines in the market:

1. CO2 Lasers

CO2 lasers are gas lasers that employ a carbon dioxide mixture that is then stimulated electrically. These lasers boast relatively high efficiency and feature a very good beam quality. Best suited for working on non-metallic materials and most plastics.

2. Fibre Lasers

Fibre lasers engraving machines utilise a solid-state laser that produce an extremely small focal diameter, which results in an intensity that can be up to 100 times higher than that of CO2 lasers. This attribute allows fibre lasers to work on metals by way of annealing and engraving, and high-contrast plastic markings.

3. Ultraviolet (UV) Lasers

The UV lasers employ ultraviolet light to mark and engrave a range of materials, primarily glass and plastics. For precision and micro-scale applications, such as micro-structuring and micro-drilling, UV lasers are the best choice!

4. Nd:YAG (Crystal Lasers)

Nd:YAG lasers are solid-state lasers that are doped with either rare earth ions or metal ions that enable the crystals to amplify light at the laser wavelength. This allows it to be well-suited for engraving, etching, and marking metals and plastics.
